What is Piri Piri?
Piri-piri is Swahili for the red devil, and the peppers used to prepare this sauce are indeed not for the regular spice eaters. Portuguese navigators brought them from America to their African colonies Angola and Mozambique to grow them there. Since then, the piri-piri sauce has become a characteristic ingredient of Portuguese cuisine.
